For those of you wanting to bookmark me on your iPhone or Touch, there’s now an icon to remember me by…

BootNeuter

BootNeuter

iPhone seemed to be dropping my signal every now and then, so I took the opportunity to BootNeuter the BL back to 4.6 after I’d used ZiPhone to unlock it. Not sure if the signal dropping was me imagining things, we’ll see how it goes with the changes made. I used the settings in the screenshot, you can find descriptions at their site here.

Should your iPhone need returning, it’s possible that they could check the bootloader for evidence of being altered, newer phones containing 4.6… ZiPhone downgrades it to 3.9, whereas Pwnage or WinPwn don’t. You might only need to upgrade it therefore if you’ve used ZiPhone.

When BootNeuter’s doing its business, don’t interrupt it obviously! I took the precaution of tapping the screen every so often so that it didn’t go onto standby and lock itself.

Find another experience here. I seem to be getting a few hits from this, please leave a comment to let me know how you got on with it!

30000 tracks on last.fm!

How could I have forgotten about this, I’m now in the 30000 club as of today.

Feel free to head over to my profile and laud/slate my taste: last.fm

21/04/08: The play counters are still down, so there’s no proof of it at the moment.

Windows: Firefox to iPhone bookmark sync?

IE bookmark import

Seems tough to say the least. I already use Foxmarks on Windows, Mac and Linux, so that would be great if I could just extend my account to iPhone but it seems impossible at the moment… Then I tried a Firefox extension called SyncMarks, with the intention of exporting Firefox bookmarks to IE, which could in turn be synced to the iPhone. Don’t know whether it objected to Vista, but nothing showed up in my Favorites folder in IE.

So, I fired up IE and just imported bookmarks from Firefox using their wizard, cleaned up the ones I didn’t want and synced them from there. Lots of effort, but I’ve finally found a use for IE: storing bookmarks for my iPhone!

Let me know if you’ve got a better way to do it, please!

cmbuild?

Chin, chinHas had lots of hits. If you’re not a bot and have a genuine interest in cmbuild, please comment and tell me about it! Just because people can’t type and don’t leave a space in their personal description for a dating site or such, doesn’t mean I’m the wrong person when searching. Go on, leave me some love.

I’m nice, I’ve even posted a picture of Ron for your viewing pleasure.

GMail on Nokia N73

…does work through the built in mail client using IMAP.

After changing over to Google Apps and hoping that the J2ME GMail client would work on the N73, I found that it didn’t and would only collect mail from a standard @gmail.com/@googlemail.com account. This is a serious drawback, sort it out Google! I considered bouncing all my e-mail across to another account, but thought better of it and gave emoze a try. Which didn’t seem to do much once I eventually connected…

So I’ve gone back to e-mail in the Messaging menu:

Incoming server: imap.googlemail.com

Mailbox type: IMAP4

Security: SSL/TLS

Port: 993

..and away you go. For sending e-mail using GMail;

Outgoing server: smtp.googlemail.com

Security: StartTLS

Port: 587

Once again, Google, please allow your client to deal with Google Apps accounts!

Although I’ve done this on my N73, it should be the same for all S60v3 phones such as the N95.

I’m posting from a train

I’m on a busy train, sat opposite Ron. He loves to blog visit. I’m also demonstrating the joys of unlimited data. Just a shame I don’t have a bigger screen. We have currently sampled a busy Leeds station. Excitement! Ron had hiccups, but they’ve now gone. He’s also receding, I can see it from here. Rach would also like a mention, so here it is.

I am not cmbuild!

Somewhere in Venice

Just to confuse Google a bit more, why does it always want to call me cmbuild?

I’ll mention it again for good measure: cmbuild.
